Topic: “The Write Stuff: Composing with Students” (and also known as “Tchaikovsky, Chet Atkins and Me”)

Does composition scare you a little? As a teacher, are you bewildered as to how to even start a project like that? This workshop will take you step-by-step from start to finish! As a project with your students, it is fun, easier than it sounds and quite memorable.

Bio:

Bernadine Johnson earned her degree in music education from Indiana Wesleyan University. She has been teaching piano for 50 years to students of all ages and abilities in her private studio (Johnson Piano Studio) in Fremont, Michigan, has been on the piano faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and has taught music education classes for the county schools. Along with teaching, she is active as a composer for Tom Gerou Music and has publications with Alfred Publishing, FJH and several sacred companies. She has spent many years as a church musician, adjudicator, accompanist, director, member of several musical organizations, community volunteer, wife, mother, and grandmother. She is an active member of MTNA, Michigan Music Teachers Assosciation and the Grand Rapids Piano Teachers Forum.
