Sharla Anderson
Piano Teacher, Accompanist, Chamber Musician

Sharla Anderson is a piano teacher, accompanist and chamber musician based in St. Louis, Missouri. She has been teaching for approximately 30 years. Sharla earned her Bachelor’s Degree of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Missouri in 1990, studying under Professor Raymond Herbert. She went on to earn her Master's Degree of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Notre Dame in 1992, studying under William Czerny. Sharla runs her own private piano studio and is an active performer, accompanist and chamber musician. She was a member of the Parlor Trio, and most recently accompanied solos of the members of the Ophelia String Quartet in concert. She is also an accompanist with the Missouri State High School Activities Association (“MSHSAA”), and regularly plays at its annual District and State Solo and Ensemble Festivals. She also performs in the Missouri Chamber Music’s annual Adult Chamber Music Intensive.

In addition to her regular teaching and performing schedule, Sharla currently serves as the Vice President of Membership of the St. Louis Area Music Teachers Association (“SLAMTA”) and as the Corresponding Secretary of the Piano Teachers’ Round Table (“PTRT”). She is also the Chair of SLAMTA’s annual Monster Concert, organizes SLAMTA’s End-of-Summer Picnic for its teachers, and maintains SLAMTA’s website as well as her own studio website. Sharla is also an active member of the National Piano Guild and the Missouri Federation of Music Clubs (“MFMC”), serving as the Treasurer of the MFMC IVF Melody Makers Club.

Finally, in addition to maintaining a studio of approximately 20 students, Sharla also works as an administrative professional with the law firm of Armstrong Teasdale LLP (“AT”). After working business hours at AT, she looks forward to teaching piano to her students in the evening.

Sharla is a strong supporter of continuing music education for students and teachers alike. Her extensive careers as a legal administrative assistant and piano teacher helped to shape her into a collaborative and supportive musician.
